Firefox WOW : Use your Gmail Space for file storage

Tagged Under : ,

Gspace is an extension that allows you to use your Gmail Space (4.1 GB and growing) for file storage. It acts as an online drive, so you can upload files from your hard drive and access them from every Internet capable system. The interface will make your Gmail account look like a FTP host.
After the installation, you’ll get an option called “Gspace” in your “Tools” menu, which opens the GSpace window.

It’s great for storing/sharing files with your friends. Also very good to backup photos and music files (as you can view/listen to them from Gspace).

Set Gmail as your default email client in Firefox 3

Tagged Under :

For those of you using newly released Firefox 3, or willing to give it a try, you can take advantage of a new feature that lets you set Gmail as the default for all email links — those that contain “mailto:” in them. If you’re like me and don’t have a default email client set up, then clicking these links typically launches an installation wizard for a destkop mail client, or opens some email software that you don’t actually use.

Now you can configure Firefox to launch Gmail when you click on email address links and avoid the hassle.
1) Go to Gmail and sign in.

2) While in Gmail, copy and paste the following into your browser’s address bar and hit enter.

javascript:window.navigator.registerProtocolHandler("mailto","https://mail.google.com/mail/?extsrc=mailto&url=%s","GMail")

Google Apps users can use this code (but be sure to replace yourdomain.com with your Google Apps domain name):

javascript:window.navigator.registerProtocolHandler("mailto","https://mail.google.com/a/yourdomain.com/mail/?extsrc=mailto&url=%s","GMail")

3) Click “Add Application” when you are prompted. Congrats, you just added Gmail to your browser’s list of mail clients.

4) To set Gmail as your default, click on this link and you will be prompted with a dialog box listing available email applications. By selecting Gmail and checking “Remember my choice for mailto links” you won’t have to tell your browser again. (You don’t actually need to send an email after you click that link.)

Photoshop Express: online photo library, editing and sharing

Tagged Under : , ,

Photoshop Express is an Free to use ( with 2GB online storage ) online photo library, editing and sharing website. Think of it this way. You shot it - not it’s time to do something with it. You can crop, rotate, change colors, enhance, remove red eye, and even some crazy special effects like twirling and distorting. When you’re done, you can share the photos using galleries and even give people a link to go see them. Photoshop Express works with JPEG photos only—the most common format used in cameras.

Features:

Crop & Rotate—Turn it, straighten it, crop out the background.
Auto Correct—Automatic, one-click, optimal lighting and contrast adjustment.
Exposure—Change the brightness of the photo.
Red-Eye Removal—Removes red eyes caused by some camera flashes.
Touchup—Remove scratches and other imperfections.
Saturation—Ramp up the colors to blinding brightness, dampen them down to black and white, or anywhere in between.
White Balance—Ever notice how people look different inside an office with the ugly fluorescent tubes, as opposed to outside on a bright sunny day? Adjust the white balance and you change the type of lighting in the photo.
Highlight—The brightest parts of a photo are the highlights. This control lets you brighten or darken just the brightest part of the photo, without affecting the darker parts (we call those the shadows).
Fill Light—If you take a shot facing into the sun, your subject can end up too dark due to the camera’s automatic exposure adjustment. Fill Light brightens the dark area without overbrightening the background.
Sharpen—It’s like putting in your contacts. Suddenly everything comes more into focus.
Soft Focus—It’s like taking your contacts out. Soft Focus creates a subtle blur for artistic effect.
Hue—This one changes all the colors in a photo at once.
Black & White—Control how the colors are converted when you change a photo to black and white.
Tint—Imagine instead of black and white, you want red and white, or pale brown and white for that old Western look.
Sketch—Makes any photo look like you drew it yourself.
Distort—Stretch, twist, bulge specific areas of your photos.

TOO MUCH?? Don’t worry, they have fully illustrated Video Tutorials for every feature.

There is more to Google, Part 1

Tagged Under : ,

Google may return some search results that include variations of your search words, such as synonyms and plurals. Google may also omit common words and characters such as a, the, how, and other digits and letters which may slow down your search without improving the results. You’ll get indication if a word has been excluded or modified by displaying details on the results page below the search box.

If a word is essential to getting the results you want, or if you want to ensure a word is included exactly as you enter it, add a “+” sign immediately in front of it in the search box. (Be sure to also include a space between the “+” sign and any other words in your search.)

For example, here’s how to ensure that Google includes the “I” in a search for Star Wars, Episode I:

” Star Wars Episode +I “

( Ignore “” )

Synonym search

If you want to search not only for your search term but also for its synonyms, place the tilde sign (”~”) immediately in front of your search term.

For example, here’s how to search for food facts and nutrition and cooking information:

” ~food ~facts “

( Ignore “” )

“OR” search

To find pages that include either of two search terms, add an uppercase OR between the terms.F or example, here’s how to search for a vacation in either London or Paris:

” vacation london OR paris “

( Ignore “” )

Domain search

You can use Google to search only within one specific website by entering the search terms you’re looking for, followed by the word “site” and a colon followed by the domain name.

For example, here’s how you’d find admission information on the Stanford University site:

” admission site:www.stanford.edu “

( Ignore “” )

Numrange search

Feel like a number? Numrange searches for results containing numbers in a given range. Just add two numbers, separated by two periods, with no spaces, into the search box along with your search terms. You can use Numrange to set ranges for everything from dates ( Willie Mays 1950..1960) to weights ( 5000..10000 kg truck). But be sure to specify a unit of measurement or some other indicator of what the number range represents.

For example, here’s how you’d search for a DVD player that costs between $50 and $100:

” DVD player $50..$100 “

( Ignore “” )
